The Mulkerin School of Irish Dance started 84 years ago in Stamford CT. Kathleen Mulkerin, was 13 years old when their Irish dance teacher moved back to Ireland, and she took over the class.
Our school is a mixture of old time very traditional dances to a more modern type of Irish dance.
Over the years we have shared the stage with many well known Irish bands, and performed at events from Nursing homes to Carnegie Hall.
Some of our dancers also compete, and we have many regional and national champions.
Our traveling group, The Emerald Dancers, travel to Ireland about every 5 years for a 2-week performance tour where they entertain for Lord Mayors, and dance in castles as well as pubs.
Our next tour is in 2025.
Kathy, the owner, took over the school when her mother, Kathleen, passed away in 2007.
Although Kathy taught dancing most of her life, and had her own classes, at this time it became a full-time job.
