General Questions

What is The Connecticut Renaissance Faire?
The Connecticut Renaissance Faire is an enchanted recreation of an old world harvest fair as one might have been in the Middle Ages. Costumed performers wander the streets interacting with guests, craft shops line the streets selling unique wares and eight stages run continuous entertainment throughout the day. The Faire is a great place to share the day with your family and friends.
How long should we plan to visit the Faire?
We often get asked how long should I stay at the Festival? We encourage you to stay the whole day with us, watch as many shows as you can, play games, get a bite to eat, shop, and have fun! Take it easy – there’s no rush. And if you are feeling so inclined, come back and visit us again before the season is over.
Is outside food allowed?
Yes. We allow you to bring food through the gates, but no coolers or outside drink.
Does The Connecticut Renaissance Faire perform in other locations?
Our Faire has two major performances each year: The Robin Hood Springtime Festival in Guilford, Connecticut and The Connecticut Renaissance Faire in Norwich, Connecticut. Throughout the country there are over 170 Renaissance Faires and Festivals. We run the second and third largest Renaissance Faires in New England.
What happens if it rains?

The Connecticut Renaissance Faire is open rain or shine unless the weather becomes so serious we choose to close for safety concerns. You can escape inclement weather in any of our tented craft shops. Some performances may be delayed or cancelled due to dangerous performing conditions.

Please note: It is our goal to keep the faire open all days so severe-weather closures are typically announced shortly before our actually opening time so we can gauge the day. If the weather is looking awry please call ahead. Closures will also be announced via our newsletter, Facebook fan page, and a pop up on our website.

Can I take pictures?
Yes, however commercial photography without express written permission from Faire Management is forbidden. Photographic permission for personal use is granted. All guests of the Faire (whether paid or free) grant permission for their photograph to be used in our collateral materials.
Can I bring my pet?
No. Pets are not allowed on site EXCEPT for our “Bring Your Pet Weekend”. See our Themed Weekends Page for details. ADA approved service animals are always welcome. The ADA defines a service animal as “any guide dog, signal dog, or other animal individually trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability”. Pet companions are not considered service animals and will be denied access at the gate except on pet weekend.
Is re-entry to the Faire allowed?
Yes. Our guests are welcome to visit their vehicle at any point during the day and return to the festival again when they get their hand properly stamped at our entry gate.  We realize you don’t want to carry around a backpack to put your purchases in, carry medication in or even lug around food & water.
Do you need food tickets to purchase food?
No. We don’t like standing in one line let alone two.  For your convenience, food purchases can be made directly at the merchant you’d like to order from. This gives you more time to enjoy the shows.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes. The Connecticut Renaissance Faire does accept credit cards for admission. Many of our merchants accept credit cards, but plan on having cash ready for food and drink plus parking. There are ATM machines available at our entry gate.
How much money should we bring?
The amount you bring depends on the types of things you like to purchase and how long you plan to stay. Plan to bring $10 – $20 per person for food and drink throughout the day. Games cost between $1 – $3 and you can find souvenirs starting as low as $1.
Does it cost extra to watch the shows?
No. All shows are included with your admission. Some shows may “pass the hat”, but tipping is always done at your discretion.
