If you like visiting The Connecticut Renaissance Faire, you’ll love working with us! Volunteering is the best way to “Experience the Magic of the Renaissance” and that’s because you help create it. The Roles of our Supporting Cast vary and are all integral to the success of the faire. That is why we go out of our way to treat every member of the Supporting Cast as family and ensure their experience is nothing less than fulfilling and memorable.

Below you will find a list of the guilds found within the Village of Caer Leon. Take a gander at each description and determine which guilds catch your fancy. Choose as many guilds as you like and we will do our best to fulfill your wishes!

We thank you again for taking an interest in the magic that is The Connecticut Renaissance Faire!

SUPPORTING CAST OPPORTUNITIES
Below are a list of available volunteer opportunies that will enable you not only to earn free passes to the faire, but also to make new friends, attend our participants party, and have a ton of fun!

Royal Guardians
The tasks of the Royal Guardians are ardous, but so necessary to the safety of Caer Leon. The Captain of the guardians is tasked by the King himself with seeing to the safety of villagers and visitors alike. Assuring the carraiges are properly secured and parked; roaming the village to keep the merchants and visitors free from villians; keepin' a watchful eye on the village's gates; and performing other duties as requested by the King and/or Captain.

This is the Faire’s internal security team. They are responsible for parking control, crowd control, keeping the peace, guarding areas of the fairgrounds and other duties as assigned.

The Rat Catcher's Guild
The Rat Catcher's are responsible for keepin' up the appearance of Caer Leon on Fest days. Not only watching for rats, but making sure the grounds of the village are neat and clean. You may even be asked to fix a bench or help pull a dead body off the field of battle now and again. A tireless sort, but Rat Catcher's get to roam all over Caer Leon and play rat polo! FUN!!

The fine folk of this guild are responsible to police the grounds and keep it all litter-free; performing necessary repairs on the fly to faire assets or cast props; being a jack of all trade but being free to walk about the faire and enjoy the free time.

Royal Criers Guild
As a member of the Royal Criers Guild, you will greet our many visitors at the main village gates when the King calls a Fest day. You will also be needin' a healthy voice on occasions to let the fine folk know about events within Caer Leon. An important position to say the least!!

The members of this guild greet our patrons as they enter the fairgrounds. They are responsible for ticket taking, peace-tying weapons, stamping the hands of patrons and in general, setting the tone of expectation for every patron walking into our Faire. This guild also holds those who use their booming voice to inform everyone of show times and special events during the course of the faire day.

The Royal Treasury
By order of King Arthur, a tax is levied upon every visitor to Caer Leon. The Royal Treasurer and his able assistants collect the taxes at the main gate prior to a visitor being allowed into the village. Assistants to the Treasurer shall also be needed to sell His Majesty's wares to those visitors and villagers alike at the Faire Memory Boothe.

These folk are responsible for assisting with ticket sales at the ticket booth and/or working in our souvenir booth. This is a retail environment which requires the ability to handle moneys in a responsible manner. Members of this guild must be bondable.

Wine and Cheese Cookery
The fine folk in this guild have the grand task of seein' to the food and drink that His Majesty's Court and minions of Caer Leon consume. The many merchants and villagers and Knights and Dames all need to be cared for; 'tis your task! Faerie Folk are part of this guild too and they be flutterin' all about with goods they snatch from the Cookery to give to those workin' hard within the village.

The great folks of this guild will see to the nourishment of the cast and merchants of the faire. Commonly called the Green Room, this area is off limits to patrons and provides free food and drink to our casts and merchants throughout the faire day. This guild does not require costumes to be worn.

Courtiers of Caer Leon
It can`na be all fun and games... unless ye be a Courtier of Caer Leon that is!! Your task shall be to sharpen the skills and wit of our young squires and princesses through the use of a variety of games! Aide them all in becoming the next Kngihts and Dames of the Round Table!

The patient folk of this guild see that the children of our patrons have a great time by manning our Kid’s Courtyard with a variety of different games the children can play and earn the right to be knighted by the King himself

Hammer and Axe Guild
Rome was`na built in a day and neither is Caer Leon! The Hammer and Axe guild are the fine craftsman who see to the construction and decoration of the Village in preperation of Arthur's Fest days! Come one, come all and heed the call of your King!!!

This guild is for those special folk who can help us set up, build props, repair assets or tear down the faire. In general, the members work the week(s) prior to the first weekend of the faire run setting up, during the faire run repairing anything, and then aiding in putting it all away after.

Harp and Lute Minstrels
The sweet mellow sounds of melodies flowing through the autumn air. What more can one ask?? For more minstrils, of course! Stroll the streets of the village and thrill the fine villagers and visitors with song, dance and skill!! Those of you in the Harp and Lute Minstrals shall have the ability to share your music sidhees with those interested in their purchase.

Members of this guild are entertainers who wish to volunteer their talent to the streets of Caer Leon . Belly dancers, jugglers, musicians... whatever act you have; if you’re looking for exposure and your talent runs into the Medieval/Renaissance period, we’d love to talk with you about a win-win situation that will have you coming back all the time.
