WHAT IS THE FAIRE ALL ABOUT?

The Connecticut Renaissance Faire isn't the same old agricultural faire you grew up with as a kid. It is a mythical journey into the romantic age of King Arthur and his brave Knights of the Round Table. Visitors to the realm will meet hundreds of highly interactive characters who have trained for many months or even years to bring the role they are playing to life. Where else can YOU get knighted by a King or one of his knights for proving your skills at arms or wit?

With over 40 hours of live entertainment daily, a Kids Courtyard filled with free kids games and hundreds of interactive characters - there is always something to see and do at our festival.

If that isn't enough spend the day shopping at over a hundred unique artisan and craft shops from around the United States. Or if you are feeling adventurous sample a delectable assortment of exotic foods from the past including turkey legs, bread bowl stews, Scottish eggs and tasty treats for all diets.

Our faire is the event you'll be looking forward to and talking about all year long. See for yourself why visitors have made us their family tradition and we'll welcome you home. Don't take our word for it. Click here see what visitors to our performance have to say.

GENERAL

THE SITE

Where is the Connecticut Renaissance Faire?
Our annual festival runs at 347 Gilead Street (Route 85) on the Hebron CT Lions fairgrounds. You can get directions to the site [here] or download our [Directions PDF] with discount coupon and information.

Do I have to wear a costume to get into the Faire?
No. Costumes are not required to get into the faire. While some people do choose to come dressed as knights, princesses, pirates, or other characters, most dress as they would to an agricultural fair. Dress comfortably for the outdoors and get ready to have the time of your life.

How long should I plan to visit?
With so much to see and do at our Faire the average visit is 5 to 8 hours. Many of our visitors choose to return a second, third or fourth day to enjoy more of the atmosphere and see things they didn't have time to see previously.

If I leave the festival can I get back in?
As long as you have your hand stamped by our gate attendants you may re-enter the faire on that day.

Do you host weddings at the Connecticut Renaissance Faire?
Every girl dreams of a fairytale wedding with her prince charming so why not have it with a fairytale setting? The Connecticut Renaissance Faire offers a variety of affordable wedding packages to make your special day one you'll remember for a lifetime. Click here for more information.

Do you host birthday parties at the Connecticut Renaissance Faire?
Be a hero in the eyes of your child by holding their next birthday party at our annual performance. Information about CTRF Birthday Parties can be found by clicking here.

What is your weapon policy?
All costume weapons must be peace-tied at the gate. Weapons that cannot be peace-tied are not permitted on site. Absolutely no firearms .

Are you open in inclement weather?
The Connecticut Renaissance Faire is open rain or shine. We have only closed once in all our years of operation due to dangerous flooding of the site in 2005.

FOOD

What kind of foods do you have?
We offer an exciting assortment of food, drinks & desserts to accomodate most diets. Sample a delectable array of old-world treats like turkey legs, steak-on-a-stick, jester chips, Scottish eggs, shepard's pie, bread bowl stews, baked potatoes, apple crisp, vegetarian delights and much more.

What is your policy on outside food & drink?
Though we do offer a wonderful variety of food merchants to patronize, we do allow outside food and drink (non-alcoholic only) at our faire. Please remember that we are a dry site and do not allow alcohol of any kind. Individuals suspected to be under the influence may be asked to leave (with their designated driver) by management, security, or on-site law enforcement.

GENERAL

We love the Connecticut Renaissance Faire - can we get more involved?
The Connecticut Renaissance Faire is always looking for friendly and enthusiastic individuals who are willing to volunteer their time to help the faire grow. If you would like to help us and have a great time, please [click here] to sign up as part of our supporting cast.

We also offer tuition-free theatrical training for selected candidates who audition to act in our show. Candidates will receive a variety of training that may include stage combat, period dialect, character development, public interaction, improvisational drama, singing, dancing, and much more. Auditions are held each Spring so watch our site for details or [join our e-mailing list] to receive an official announcement.

What do you do for charity and/or the community?
Some say the Code of Chilvalry is dead, but we believe it lives on through us. Not only do a portion of our proceeds go to the Hebron Lions to benefit eye research, we also sponsor a huge can drive to benefit the Manchester Area Conference of Churches, Hold a special Deaf Awareness Day, provide free tickets to the Hebron Parks & Recreation Department for residents, host a safe trick or treat event, and are very active in the local community.

I'd like to become an actor at the faire, but how?
Acting at the faire is an incredibly rewarding experience where you not only make numerous new friends, but also learn skills (improv, stage combat, voice, period dialect, etc.) from a professional production company. Learn more about acting at CTRF by clicking [here].

Can I bring my pet to the faire?
We love pets, but regret that for the safety of your pet no pets of any kind are allowed at our show. Registered service animals with valid credentials are always welcome.

Do I have to wear a costume?
Dress as you would to any outdoor event or agricultural fair/festival and you're dressed for our performance. Many visitors choose to make their own Renaissance attire and wear it to our show, but it is not required. Costume rentals are available for adults and children just inside the entrance of the faire is you are feeling adventurous.
